The bottom-right panel of the BurnSim 4 main window carries three tabs. They share a panel but have little else in common, so pick the one you are after:

Results

The text summary BurnSim writes after each simulation - designation and motor class, total impulse, burn time, peak and average thrust, peak pressure, delivered Isp, Kn max/min/avg, web thickness, propellant mass and length, peak mass flux and flow - along with any warnings about the design, and notes on anything that changed the run (a thrust cutoff, erosive burning, divergence loss, a climbing ambient pressure).

Several of its lines have explanations of their own:

  • Port/throat ratio - how restrictive the aft grain's port is at ignition, and what the usual design targets are
  • Initial free volume - the gas space at ignition: grain ports plus the nozzle's convergent cone
  • Igniter mass - two estimates of the igniter charge this motor needs, one sized on burning surface and one on free volume, and how to read them against each other

Test Data

Import, edit and manage real measured data from a motor firing - pressure or thrust traces from a test stand. Test data can be plotted against the simulation for comparison, and is what characterization works from when deriving burn rate coefficients for a propellant.

Notes

Free-text notes about the motor, saved inside the .bsx file. Anything you want to keep with the design - a load record, what you changed since the last firing, or why a field is set the way it is.
